Sadio Mane to receive prestigious Socrates Prize

Senegalese striker Sadio Mane, Bayern Munich, received on Monday the "Socrates Award" during the Golden Ball ceremony, which was created this year, and is intended for football players participating in community and charitable projects.




Mane, 30, was rewarded for making major investments in the development of his hometown of Bambali (southern Senegal), where he contributed in particular by encouraging equality between boys and girls in playing football. Mani also contributed to equipping a hospital in his village.





The Socrates Prize is presented by a jury that includes famous personalities, most notably the star of Paris Saint-Germain and the former Brazil national football team, Ray, the younger brother of Socrates, representatives of France Football magazine, and representatives of the Peace and Sports Organization that supports development projects and contributes to spreading peace through sport.
